AIMM is a non-governmental, non-profit environmental organization that since 2010 has been dedicated to promoting research, education and conservation regarding marine species and ecosystems. We are based in the Algarve region, in the south of Portugal, where we carry out most of our activities.
We are currently looking for a volunteer cook to work part-time at our Field Station for the 2026 season. We need a person to manage the food preparation of the team and interns.
Volunteering:
- This position is on a voluntary basis;
- The start is scheduled for early May until late November, 2026. You’re only able to stay for a month? Talk to us anyway;
- We offer food and accommodation at the Field Station where we accommodate our researchers and interns.
Goals:
- Be sustainable & creative – try to use the groceries in the best way possible;
- Manage the food stock and the fridge of the Field Station;
- Ability to prepare meals for different diets (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.);
- Plan and prepare food – 2 meals a day for the whole team and interns.
Profile:
- Experience in cooking (prefered);
- English or Portuguese speaker;
- Capacity of organization;
- And be open-minded!

- Tunes, Algarve – Portugal (we are here!)
Other information:
- From May to November we will be welcoming for our Internship people of different nationalities, areas , so you will have the opportunity to socialise with everyone;
- When possible, you can go out to sea on the AIMM research boat to see our fieldwork and the animals in the wild. See for yourself the researchers and marine biologists in action and learn with them about the animals that can be observed in the South of Portugal.
