Nauticinblu Europe Project in Albufeira – 2026

The environmental education program “Nauticinblu Europe” is back to Portugal for the 3rd Edition!

The environmental education project “NauticinBlu Europe”, created by Marevivo with the long-term support of the MSC Foundation, will return to Portugal in 2026, once again organized by AIMM.

After previous editions in Almada (Lisbon) and Faro, the project will take place this year in Albufeira, continuing its mission of promoting ocean literacy, environmental awareness, and marine conservation among younger generations. The “NauticinBlu ITA-EU” Project already involves more than 20 Nautical Institutes in Italy and continues to expand across Europe, being implemented not only in Portugal, but also in Greece and Spain.

This year we take the Project to Albufeira!

During four days in May, 200 eighth-grade students from Escola Básica das Ferreiras and Escola Básica Professora Diamantina Negrão, in the Albufeira region, will participate in the Nauticinblu Project activities.

Throughout the programme, students will take part in a variety of theoretical and practical activities focused on marine biodiversity, sustainability, and ocean conservation. One of the activities most anticipated by students will be the dolphin observation field trip, carried out alongside AIMM researchers and in collaboration with our partner AlgarExperience. This activity will provide students with the opportunity to observe cetaceans in their natural habitat while learning more about marine research and conservation.

Students will also participate in an educational peddy paper, where they will apply the knowledge acquired during the project’s introductory sessions through collaborative and interactive challenges.

To conclude the project, students will collectively paint a themed mural designed by Algarvian street artist Seres , inspired by the ecosystems and marine species of the Marine Natural Park of Algarve Reef – Pedra do Valado. The mural will leave a lasting visual and educational message within the school community about the importance of protecting the marine environment.

Marevivo’s educational exhibition “Only One: One Planet, One Ocean, One Health”, created in collaboration with the Italian Navy and the Fondazione Anton Dohrn in Naples – and illustrating key points of an effective ecological transition – will also be on display in both schools participating in the project.

We would also like to thank our partners at Albufeira Surf and Sup for supporting the project by providing the prizes to the winning groups of the peddy paper.
