This Privacy Policy is intended to explain how AIMM collects, stores and processes your personal and other data that may be collected for statistical analysis purposes.

Who are we?

AIMM – ASSOCIAÇÃO PARA A INVESTIGAÇÃO DO MEIO MARINHO, legal collective person with NIPC 509248780, headquartered at Rua Maestro Frederico de Freitas, 15 1.º 1500-399, in Lisbon (hereinafter “AIMM”) is responsible for the website www.aimmportugal.org and undertakes to guarantee the privacy and protection of the personal data of users and visitors, following all legal and regulatory standards in force.

AIMM reserves the right to periodically update and change its Privacy Policy, in order to reflect any changes in the way our users’ personal data are processed or in legal terms. AIMM will display the most recent and current version of the Privacy Policy, and it is advisable to check it periodically for any updates or changes.

Guiding principles

The main purpose of this Policy is to consolidate the relationship of trust and proximity between AIMM and its users. It also aims to demonstrate transparency in the processing of the data collected and to inform all users of their rights and how they can exercise them, as holders of personal data.

Legal base

AIMM acts in strict compliance with the principles described in this Policy, Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR) and applicable data protection legislation, in all processes involving personal data processing.

According to the Agreement with the GDPR, personal data is defined as: “Any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (“the holder of the information”); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological , genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person.”

Data protection

Customer or purchase registration
Upon registration or purchase at AIMM’s online store, the following data are collected: e-mail, name, address, postal code and telephone. The data collected through the user’s purchase process will be processed automatically and are intended for the processing of orders.

Donations
AIMM relies on donations and other equipment and financial support to continue our efforts of research and conservation of marine species and ecosystems. Contact information such as name, address, telephone and email are used to process receipts and for user communication purposes. Financial information such as bank account and credit card details are only used to process transactions. The information we collect is always treated as strictly confidential and is never disclosed to third parties without your prior consent unless required by law. We never share our database with other organizations.

Newsletter
When registering for the AIMM Newsletter, the following data are collected: name and e-mail. If you do not wish to receive more information about AIMM or be contacted about our latest news, you have the opportunity to cancel it, each time you receive a newsletter, or you can contact us to unsubscribe: info@aimmportugal.org.

Contact form
AIMM may also request personal data in the contact forms, namely the name, email and other information that the visitor provides us.

AIMM navigation
Data related to browsing the AIMM’s website and online store are also always collected. Examples of this type of data are device and browser information, network information and IP address.

Purpose for which data is collected

Personal data are collected and processed in order to fulfill the purposes indicated below:

Service provision:

• Dispatch of orders
• Order handling
• Troubleshooting such as canceling, returning products or refunding the value of products in accordance with the law in force
• Customer support: clarification of doubts about products, the operation of AIMM or any other question requested by the user

Direct Marketing (eg. email marketing):
In order for the user to be up to date on order status or any news about AIMM, we may send emails with commercial communications regarding offers, products or campaigns, as well as thematic content and information about the processing of registered orders.

For marketing purposes, at AIMM we may consider and use certain data such as products viewed, products on wishlist or abandoned cart. Marketing communications are made after and with the user’s prior consent. In any case, AIMM seeks to ensure that the information and data collected and used are suitable for the purposes described and that they do not constitute an invasion of the user’s privacy.

When do we collect the data?

Data is collected when there is an account registration at AIMM’s website and online store, subscription to the newsletter, filling of the contact form, registering an order or while browsing the website and online store.

What are your rights and how can you exercise them?

The holder of personal data has the right, at any time, to request access, rectification, opposition, export and/or elimination, as well as the right not to be subject to automated decisions.

The user may exercise any of these rights with AIMM, by submitting a request to the following address info@aimmportugal.org. We will try our best to answer any questions you may have and correct any errors on our part. The user can also file a complaint with the National Data Protection Authority in Portugal (CNPD).

Data retention

AIMM is required to retain information for tax and auditing purposes in accordance with current law. AIMM keeps your data due to specific requirements and practices inherent to AIMM and its sector of activity, until the user requests that they be deleted from the database.

The holder may, at any time, request to access, rectify or delete their personal data by sending an email to info@aimmportugal.org.

If the user registers at AIMM, he can check, edit or delete his personal information at any time from the “My Account” on the website. At the user’s request, AIMM may change certain user data associated with registered orders.

Data sharing

AIMM does not transfer or sell any type of personal data to any entity other than those necessary for the operation of the service. Personal data will also not be used for any other purpose without the holder’s consent.

Any third party, with which customer data may be shared, is obliged to use it exclusively as a way of performing the proper functioning of its service on behalf of AIMM.
